Congratulations Julia’s on taking Creative Loafing’s Best of Charlotte 2009 Critics’ Pick title for Best Coffee.

We always knew our coffee was pretty good, but a Best of Charlotte mention confirms it, immortalizes it in time, etches it in our memories…forever. You like us, you really like us! This is Julia’s second win, following a Best Coffeehouse Readers’ Pick award in 2007.

Best Place to Enjoy a Latte - Allen Norwood

coffeebeans2So, what makes our coffee the best in Charlotte? We’ll let you in on a secret – it’s not just the coffee. To start, our certified organic beans are shade-grown and harvested with the utmost care in El Salvador, then roasted locally. We pay above fair market (or Direct Trade) price per pound for our premium beans to ensure that workers are paid a living wage. Once in our coffeehouse, the beans are ground and whipped up into any coffee creation you may or may not be able to say five times fast, thanks to our talented baristas. So, from the bean to the cup, you know what you’re sipping is nothing less than fresh-made goodness.

If you are in the Charlotte region, or passing through ripping around I-277 think about refilling yourself at Julia’s. - Andy Ciordia

juliasfromtop2Now, the coffee could sell itself, but we like to go for that little bit extra. Nestled in a quiet spot next to the Habitat for Humanity ReStore, Julia’s offers a mellow coffeehouse vibe with cool vintage seating and eclectic décor. Along with a fine cup of coffee, we also have bags of beans, tea, smoothies, sandwiches, dessert, pastries, and more. You can even pick up a like-new book at our used bookstore located within – offering a plethora of affordable fiction and nonfiction titles.

It's both comfortable and cool, and you'd never expect to find it in an old shopping center on Wendover Road. - Charlotte Observer

True to the heart of the Habitat for Humanity purpose, Julia’s Coffee not only supports the organization through sales, but also by sourcing our beans to El Salvador, where Habitat has built hundreds of homes and counting for local families.

From the coffee to the food, the experience and the cause, Julia’s Coffee truly lies among the ranks of Charlotte’s best. To find out more, please visit our website: www.juliascoffee.org.
