Julia's Staff Picks PDF Print E-mail

Each time I come to Julia’s, I can’t wait to see the new selection that awaits me. I find myself most excited to see what’s new in the trade fiction section.

Here are a few of my recent favorites:

  • My Sister’s Keeper &Jodi Picoult-Sisters Nineteen Minutes, Jodi Picolt: I’m relatively new to Picolt, and I find that when I start one of her books, I can’t seem to put it down! Her stories draw you into the characters and are so thought-provoking.
  • Their Eyes Were Watching God, Zora Neale Hurston: I try to ready one classic every few months. I was overwhelmed by the beauty of Hurston’s words in this story.
  • The Mitford Series, Jan Karon: I truly savor these books. I’m up to the 5th story of the series, and I know when I complete it, I’ll start back with the first to reread them.  I feel like I’ve gotten to know the characters of Mitford, the small town based on Blowing Rock.  The stories are so uplifting, and after a long day, I relish the comfort I get out of these books.
