ReStore/Julia's Volunteer Opportunities

Cashier Extraordinaire!

volrestore1cashierThe front register staff are the first people a shopper sees at the ReStore. We're looking for folks who like to interact with people throughout the day and feel comfortable running a cash register. Experience running a register is not required, just a desire to learn!

  • Training Needed: Volunteer Orientation, On-site training
  • Time commitment: Once a week
  • Shifts: morning and afternoon Tuesday-Saturday (some shifts are currently full)
  • Location: Wendover Rd ReStore and Wilkinson Blvd ReStore

Donations Hotline Assistant

The Donations Coordinator needs help handling all incoming phone calls, making confirmation calls, conducting donor surveys, and entering information in Excel. Comfort with talking on the phone is a must! We will provide plenty of training to make sure you feel comfortable in your volunteer position.

Book Lover Volunteers

volrestore3booksBook lovers, rejoice! Our bookstore, as part of Julia’s Café, is home to 5,000 gently used books, and our Wilkinson ReStore is getting a new book section too! Our books volunteers sort donated books, learn our pricing system, keep the section organized, and separate the jewels from the junk. We especially need volunteers to work on sorting our books, which requires lifting about 10-20 pounds. Our books practically fly off the shelves, so there’s always a lot to do! Training will be provided.

  • Shifts: morning and afternoon Monday-Saturday (some shifts are currently full)

Julia’s Café Media Volunteer

We need a volunteer to assist with sorting, pricing, and organizing the media that is donated to us. Experience or expertise in music is not required, just a desire to learn!

  • Training Needed: Volunteer Orientation, On-site training
  • Time commitment: Once a week
  • Shifts: Tuesday and Thursday (4 hour shift, time is flexible)
  • Location: Wendover Rd ReStore

Julia’s Café Barista Volunteer

volrestore5baristaCoffee lovers, rejoice! Julia’s Coffee needs your help! We are searching for volunteer baristas to assist staff baristas in making coffee and helping customers. Experience in a coffee shop is not needed, just a friendly face with a knack for customer service!

Fan Repair Volunteer

An experienced Fan Repair Volunteer will be available for training. Experience is not required - just a desire to learn! Choose your own projects based on your ability.

Sales Floor Volunteer

Work with the managers, staff and other volunteers to manage one or more sections of the store, keep donations moving through our stock room, and get donated items priced and ready to hit the floor. You can also help keep store sections stocked and tidy, or assist with customer service by serving as a resource to shoppers on the sales floor.

Donations Dock Volunteer

volrestore8donationsThis position will include accepting donations directly from drop-off donors with an emphasis on what we accept and do not accept. Volunteers in this position would be responsible for maintaining a good relationship with both frequent and first-time donors. Staff will assist the volunteer in learning what compromises a "good" donation, and ample training will be provided.

Cabinetry Specialist

This volunteer has the potential to make a significant increase in our cabinet sales, which can positively impact the success of the ReStore. Ample training will be provided.

Appliance Specialist

This volunteer would receive training from staff, and even just beginner knowledge of appliances would go a long way in this position. This volunteer has the potential to make a significant increase in our appliance sales, which is a huge portion of our sales at the Wilkinson ReStore!

Metal Recycling Volunteer

volrestore11metalrecycleThis position is perfect for people who are handy, enjoy taking things apart, and want to help Habitat! We receive many generous donations of appliances, but unfortunately not all are in appropriate condition to be re-sold. Through the metal recycling program, we are able to salvage as many of the metal components as possible before discarding items that cannot be sold. The Metal Recycling Volunteer will be responsible for removing metal components and sorting them into recycling containers. The staff will train and assist volunteers in this process.
